SONGBRD Chido Machanzi says video production tops her priorities this year.
The 24-year-old, who is set to release an accompanying video to her latest single titled Uchadzoka next Saturday, has promised to invest in visuals to boost her profile and brand.
As part of her new year’s resolutions, Chido said brand visibility remains one of her desires.
“Well, I have decided to invest a lot in visuals because it helps in terms of recognition and for my fans to know me better and see my dancing skills.
“As a result of that, those who want to promote my brand will know the type of artist I am and my needs,” she said.
She made her intentions of upping her game clear.
“I’m planning to work really hard on my brand to grow and be known as much as I can, and to release new songs and do live gigs,” she said.
Unlike most female artists, who are complaining that the play field is not level, Chido embraces competition.
“Well, it’s actually good to compete with them (male artists) because you end up working really hard and there are a lot of opportunities if there are few girls doing music,” said the Afro jazz sensation.
She also boasts of several talents like painting, modelling and singing, and believes creativity has kept her afloat.
“I believe in versatility because people love unique and new things all the time.
“It becomes boring to repeat the same thing over and over again, but I maintain the African vibe.”
Chido gave credit to her management team for helping her make a breakthrough.
“My dad is really supportive since he actually does the same thing to all of my siblings and we have different careers.
“He is actually the one managing my band. I enjoy working with him since he gives me direction,” she said.
The diva is one of the consistent female artists, who holds regular shows.
