Chief Chinamhora born Richard Jeyi from Domboshava in Goromonzi District, has pledged to fight societal ills, which include drug and substance abuse and child marriages in communities under his jurisdiction.

He made the remarks at the National Aids Council’s “Not In My Village” campaign, held today at Parirehwa Grounds in Domboshava, Goromonzi District

Domboshava has been red-flagged as one of the hotspots with the highest number of teenagers affected by sexually transmitted infections.

According to the National Aids Council (NAC), Goromonzi has the highest number of STI infections in Mashonaland East Province.

As such, NAC is introducing an inclusive approach to deal with these issues. Research from NAC attributes the increase in STI infections to various factors, which include drug and substance abuse.

The awareness campaign was attended by all four headmen, village heads, community, religious and political leaders under Chief Chinamhora’s jurisdiction.
