adminTwo Harare men have been accused of defrauding a Hwedza chief of grinding mill and dehauler spare parts and money to the tune of more than US$7 000.
Jolify Jani (32) and Phineas Damba (30) allegedly conned Chief Arnold Goto of Hwedza.
Maburo and Damba pleaded not guilty to the charge when they appeared before Mbare magistrate Mr Arnold Maburo who remanded them in custody to February 25.
In their defence, the duo told the court that they delivered the grinding mill and several accessories to the chief and that the property delivered in accordance with money he had paid them.
Prosecutor Mr Tungamirai Muganhiri alleges that on November 25, 2007 Jani and Damba violated a trust agreement between them and Chief Goto.
The two were given Zimbabwe dollars equivalent to US$7 000 to assemble a grinding mill and two dehaulers.
He said they were given two electric motors and all materials necessary to make a grinding mill.
It is alleged Jani and Maburo delivered the shell of the grinding mill to Chief Goto and sold one dehauler to one Murehwa in Zimre Park.
The court was told they converted the money to their own use. – CR.
