BULAWAYO Chiefs salvaged a point against Chapungu as they came from behind to ensure that they walk away with something in a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League tie at Luveve Stadium yesterday.

Sloppy marking from Chiefs gave Chapungu’s Emmanuel Chitauro acres of space on the edge of the penalty area arc, to pile-drive a rising shot to beat goalkeeper, David Bizabani in the 32nd minute. Chitauro had been set up by Denver Mukamba as the visitors probed for a goal.

Chiefs managed to score and level matters when Isaac Badu made a perfect header from a corner kick taken by Shepherd Mhlanga in the 52nd minute. Chiefs’ coach Thulani Sibanda said it was a tough match and was content walking away with a point despite seeking maximum points.

“We will have to build on the point going forward as we are under pressure and want to collect maximum points in every game although there will be some tough games and easy matches. I think we have been conceding due out poor defensive work and I think if we can close up defensively we can squeeze in the results,” he said.

Chapungu coach, Rodwell Dhlakama felt it was an easy game as they created a number of chances but his charges could not bury them.

“I think after player two games in four days we are feeling the fatigue creeping in and that fact that both games were away matches had an impact. We will be again travelling to face Black Rhinos in the ZDF games so it will be a tall order for the players,” he said.
