THEMBINKOSI Sibanda was left with no choice but to send off Black Rhinos’ defender, Peace Makaha, after he slapped Bulawayo Chiefs manager Farai Sibanda just before kick-off.
And, when the game eventually started, Perfect Chikwende struck, 12 minutes from full-time, to give Bulawayo Chiefs all the three points.
Makaha encroached into Bulawayo Chiefs’ half and was blocked by Sibanda and the defender reacted by slapping him.
All this happened in full view of fourth official Pilan Ncube, who informed referee, Thembinkosi Sibanda, of the incident.
The referee cut short his warm-up, and returned to the dressing room to fetch the red car which he flashed in Makaha’s face.
The Bulawayo Chiefs manager also watched the game from the stands as he, too, was shown the red card.
Rhinos coach, Stanford “Stix” said he did not see what had transpired.
“Both teams played well. We had our chances, but their ‘keeper saved them.
“The boys must not be dejected because of this result,” said Mutizwa
Chiefs coach, Nilton Terroso, was happy to collect maximum points.
“Very physical and intense game, but l think it was played well. They played aggressively, but we handled that well.
“We were not able to take our chances, but we utilised one of them. “Credit to the players for the way they played,” said Terroso.
