BULAWAYO Chiefs coach John Nyikadzino says his charges are ready for the challenge against Ngezi Platinum Stars at Luveve Stadium in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League this afternoon.

The Bulawayo side head into this afternoon’s encounter knowing that a positive result could prove crucial to their survival hopes.

Nyikadzino says preparations have gone well and the players are eager to take to the field.

“The preparations have gone well and the mood in camp is very good. The players are looking forward to the match and are eager to get onto the pitch. We know the challenge that awaits us and we are ready for it,” said Nyikadzino.

With Chiefs sitting 14th on the table, six points above the relegation zone with four matches remaining, the coach is aware of the importance of turning that confidence into points.

Nyikadzino knows his team cannot afford to be distracted by the pressure surrounding their position and has challenged his players to focus on the task at hand.

“We understand the situation we are in and what is required of us. At this stage of the season, every match is important and we cannot afford to take anything for granted. We have to be disciplined, work hard and use every chance that come our way,” he said.

Chiefs have 31 points and will be looking to strengthen their position against a Ngezi Platinum side that also wants maximum points.

For Nyikadzino, the occasion is more than simply being prepared but to get the results. “The players know what is at stake. We have prepared well and now they have to deliver and earn us the much needed points.

“We need to be on top of the situation from the first whistle and remain focused throughout the match if we are to get the desired results,” he said.

Bulawayo Chiefs survived relegation in 2018 and 2019 and will be hoping this will happen again this year.
