BULAWAYO Chiefs head coach John Nyikadzino says they are ready to face Castle Lager Premier Soccer League defending champions Scottland at Barbourfields tomorrow and come up with a positive result.
The encounter presents a stern examination for the Premiership returnees who are still finding their footing back in the top-flight league following their return this season.
Chiefs will be up against a well-drilled Scottland outfit that has already shown why it carries the tag of defending champions, making the Barbourfields clash one of the standout fixtures of the weekend.
Nyikadzino believes this is a game that will need maximum concentration from his troops to get the positive result that they need.
With the stakes high, the Chiefs gaffer is banking on discipline and improved efficiency in front of goal as key factors that could tilt the balance in their favour.
While Nyikadzino’s record of one win, two draws, and two defeats is not the worst, pressure is mounting.
Chiefs, who were relegated in 2024, will be eager to avoid a similar fate and the continuation of dropping points could see the coach’s position come under serious threat.

Their biggest concern has been a lack of cutting edge in the final third, something Nyikadzino openly acknowledges.

However, Nyikadzino remains optimistic that a turnaround is imminent and that the hard work being put in at training will soon translate into results on the pitch.
“We are ready. The players are ready.
‘‘There is no easy game this year and we are playing in the same league so we should be able to face them.
“We have been working on our finishing which has been our biggest letdown. It’s a matter of time before we get it right in terms of utilising the chances that we get.
“If we utilise those chances then we are on track. I would like to thank our fans who have been supporting us.
“We are going to fight playing the defending champions to make them happy,” said Nyikadzino.
