Chiefs stick with Nyikadzino

BULAWAYO Chiefs have thrown their full weight behind head coach John Nyikadzino, with chief executive officer Thulani “Javas” Sibanda making it clear the club trusts the man who guided them back into the top flight.

The endorsement comes as Chiefs brace for their return to the Premier Soccer League, a second coming that carries both caution and ambition as the club looks to settle, survive, and then compete.

“We are here to compete,” said Sibanda.
“We once played in the top flight, which made us gain unmatched experience. We are here to perfect our gameplay.

“We have decided to continue with coach Nyikadzino. We believe the work he did with our team last season deserves him a chance at the top stage, and let it be.”

Promotion under Nyikadzino has given Chiefs momentum, but also clarity. This is a club aware of how quickly the top flight can punish uncertainty, and the backing of the technical team signals a desire for stability rather than constant change.

“It differs from the club’s ambitions and expectations. We feel that Nyikadzino is the right man for our brand and principles for now.”

While the football journey continues to take shape, Chiefs have also built an identity beyond the pitch. Despite being relative newcomers at the elite level, the club has cultivated a strong digital footprint, drawing supporters into the brand and building a following that stretches past matchday.

On the field, expectations are grounded but firm.
“Firstly, we would want to avoid relegation by all means possible. That is our primary target, but on top of that, we are here to compete with everyone in equal measure.

“We have the experience we need in the team, blended with the youth and those still seeking to establish themselves.”
Chiefs have already begun reinforcing the squad, confirming the capture of experienced campaigners Elvis Moyo and Brian Muza.

“The duo have a lot of experience and on a normal day, what they can offer to the club is nothing less than quality. We are excited to have them in our team.”

The club has also invested in the future, securing the services of 14-year-old left-footed midfielder Dwayne Musona from Majesa. The youngster has already attracted junior national team call-ups.

“The youngster is an exciting guy and we tip him for a bright future,” said Sibanda.
