DYNAMOS’ first team manager Richard Chihoro has been roped in as the interim assistant coach to Callisto Pasuwa until the end of the season.
He replaces Tonderayi Ndiraya who resigned early this month after a fall out with Pasuwa in a move that impeccable sources said was as a result of third forces who want to control the reigning Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions.
Ndiraya resigned after apparently getting wind that Pasuwa had dug in and said he could no longer work with him and it was better that he was re-assigned somewhere within the club structures. Ndiraya immediately tendered his resignation and said it was due to his impending examinations which are due next month.
“The coach has told us that he will not be making changes to the technical bench’s line-up but will instead use Chihoro who has enough coaching experience,” said Dynamos chairman Kenny Mubaiwa from the capital yesterday.
Chihoro was assistant coach to David Mandigora during the 2008 season and is viewed as the stabilising force in the highly volatile Dynamos dressing room.
Mubaiwa said as an executive they had no problem with the new set-up.
Indications from the blue and white camp are that loyal son Desmond “Gazza” Maringwa will also be working closely with the Dynamos technical bench so that he gains the necessary experience before he eventually becomes the substantive assistant coach from next year.
The defending champions are second on the log table with 35 points, three points behind a decent and well run Harare City who are on course for their maiden league title.
On third position are the stuttering Bulawayo giants Highlanders who are on 34 points.
