Chihuri lambasts Western interference

interference in Zimbabwe’s domestic affairs and urged patriotism within the force to protect the country’s hard earned independence.
Sending off 387 policemen and women to Mozambique and Zambia on Thursday, Comm-Gen Augustine Chihuri said the tour by new recruits and serving officers was historical.
“This marks yet another historic milestone within ZRP and the visit is aimed at rekindling the essence of the historical legacy of the nation.
“The knowledge of our historical background as the destined natives of Zimbabwe should be the cornerstone of our future, the tours will be an ideal eye opener to those who had no insight into the history of Zimbabwe.
“This will definitely give an appreciation of the sacrifices done by our heroes because every citizen should have the know-how of the origins of the country so as to bear fruits for the country’s destiny.
“Thus there is need to guard our country jealously against neo-colonialism and open aggression by the West,” he said.
Comm-Gen Chihuri said by maintaining sanctions against Zimbabwe, the west was not accepting that Zimbabwe was now independent.
“Zimbabwe is a sovereign nation and has always refused to sell its birthright and freedom that is why the West have continued to impose illegal sanctions against our beloved country.
“What Zimbabweans should know is that there are no permanent friends, enemies but permanent interests that is why the West is so aggressive and they want to perpetrate their interests.
He said it is high time that Zimbabweans unite and fight for one cause.
