Domestic violence and assault contributed the majority of the cases. Other cases recorded were unlawful entry and thefts, stock theft, thefts and robberies, among others.

In 2012, the district recorded 2 699 such cases.
The officer commanding Mashonaland East senior assistant commissioner Charles Makono, said they were concerned and urged the public to continue working with the force to reduce crime.

“In this endeavour, I encourage the community to desist from violence within families and find peaceful ways of resolving conflicts,” he said.

Snr Asst Comm Makono said Chikomba district was a farming community and played a pivotal role in the national economy.
