THE Chikosha family in Harare have accused Zanu-PF youths of murdering a family member in an alleged political dispute.
Although the family members have been arrested on allegations of actually committing the murder, investigations by this publication have revealed that Peter Privilege Chikosha who died after succumbing to injuries sustained during an attack, was in fact a victim of political violence by the ruling party youths.
Tapera Alexander Chikosha (77), his children Panashe (20) and Kudakwashe (16) and his wife Netsai Mamhare (44), recently appeared before a Mbare Magistrate, Kudzai Zihove were they were granted $100 bail each and remanded them to April 30.
A close family member has revealed that Peter was attacked by Zanu-PF youth on 12 April at Old Highfield as they accused him and his family of being aligned with the opposition.
“It is sad that our family is now being victimized for a crime which they did not even commit, we lost our brother and are mourning but we now have to be accused of a murder which we did not even commit,” said a family member on condition of anonymity fearing victimization.
After the attack, Peter was ferried by his family to Highfield Polyclinic for medical examinations where he was pronounced dead upon admission.
