Chikuhwa promises more goals

CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League top goal scorer, Lynoth Chikuhwa has promised more goals.

The Highlanders forward is leading the top goal scorers’ chart with seven goals, followed by Never Rauzhi from Bulawayo Chiefs and Juan Mutudza from FC Platinum, who have both scored six times.

Chikuhwa said he is only getting started and fans should brace up for more goals.

“Seven goals are not enough, I am only at 30% and the best is yet to come.

“I am in form, and I should utilise the form and score more goals now. Definitely, more goals are coming.

“I am not satisfied. I want more, and I know that with hard work, teamwork and more effort, nothing is impossible.

“I don’t want to pressure myself and say double digits. I might even end up doing more than that. I am targeting to score in almost every game,” said Chikuhwa.

The 29-year-old striker managed three goals last season.

He said the new coach, Kelvin Kaindu, has contributed largely to his scoring spree this season.

“This season, we have a good coach, not taking anything away from our previous coach.

“Last season, the coach wanted us to do more defending. It was a good plan, but it made it difficult for me to score.

“This season, our coach has given us the room to attack and to be creative in front of goal.

“The coach has given us confidence, not just me but the whole team. Scoring is not easy. It is complimented with a lot of teamwork,” he added.

The former Tsholotsho player said he dreams of winning the Golden Boot Award and this season if he continues with his form, it might be his year.

“I am targeting a move outside the country.

“For me to attract foreign interests, I have to work harder and score more goals.

“I have to be the top goal scorer and hopefully fulfill a childhood dream of winning the Golden Boot award. By winning the Golden Boot Award, I will also be increasing my chances of playing outside the country,” he said.

Chikuhwa grew up at Highlanders juniors.
