IT appears local Afro-dancehall artist, Chillmaster, has struck the right codes when it comes to social media capital as his music is doing well on YouTube after reaching a combined total of over 5,7 million views.
According to YouTube’s weekly top statistics, Chillmaster’s hit ‘Horror’ is sitting at 2,2 million views while another song ‘Makanaka’ has hit 3,5 million views in six months.
The YouTube weekly top artist ranking, as of January this year, indicates that Chillmaster is the dominant artist.
He is beating other top dogs in the industry who include Jah Prayzah, Winky D, Killer T, Minister Michael Mahendere, Janet Manyowa and Gemma Griffiths. Although others have claimed that some local artists buy views, in order to gain popularity and monetisation, Chillmaster confirmed his viewers and audiences were genuine.
He said he was deeply humbled.
“I’m deeply humbled by the overwhelming love and support that’s led to another remarkable milestone of 2 million views on ‘Kudiwa Chaizvo’.
“Thank you for being an incredible part of this journey,” he said.
Two of his songs “Kudiwa Chaizvo”, and “Horror” both breached the milestone of two million views days.
Last year, Chillmaster enjoyed a remarkable time as he consistently released hits that resonated with fans and critics.
His ability to produce catchy tracks has established him as a key player on the local music scene.
