Manicaland Bureau
PREPARATIONS for the Chimanimani East Ward 13 local authority by-election have begun with the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) rolling out a voter education programme.

The election is pencilled for October 6, with five candidates having shown interest in competing for the position of councillor.

Manicaland provincial chief elections officer, Mr Moffat Masabeya said ZEC had dispatched teams to carry out voter education ahead of the election.

“We have dispatched teams for voter education.

“We have also lined up a voter education programme, which will run for the whole of next week.

“There are five candidates who are contesting in the by-election,” he said.

Zanu-PF’s Cde Joshua Sacco won the House of Assembly seat and the ruling party took the majority of the local authority seats in Chimanimani East constituency.
