A 27-YEAR-OLD Chimanimani woman is alleged to have committed suicide after having a misunderstanding with her husband over his alleged infidelity.
Chipinge District police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuuraumera, confirmed the death of Nyasha Mafuyana of Muchadziya Village under Chief Ngorima’s area who committed suicide while her husband, Fungai Pineyi was asleep.
He said: “Pineyi finished having supper and retired to bed at around 9pm. He woke up later that night and discovered that his wife was missing in their bedroom hut.
“He went outside to look for his wife. He discovered her hanging from a mango tree which is about 20 metres from their homestead. A report was made to the police at Chimanimani Police Station by Pineyi and no fool play is suspected. Post mortem was waived by Chipinge magistrate, Mr Noah Gwatidzo. Her next of kin were advised,” said Asst Insp Kadzuuraumera.
He added: “People should always find amicable ways of solving their problems since suicide is not the solution. The public should seek advice and counselling from elders to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.”
