TOP Goalscorer of the Year Kasimero Chimbadzwa believes he could have scored more goals had he played more matches in the just-ended World Navi Northern Region Division One soccer league.

The ZRP FC forward will be honoured today by Supreme Panel Beaters, who are the sponsors for the award, at a function to be held at their offices in Msasa.

He will get $400 for his effort.

They also sponsored the monthly top goalscorer award with the winners getting $200.

The awards were introduced in August when Supreme Panel Beaters partnered with the league and Commando’s Eddie Nyika was the first to win the monthly award in the same month.

Chimbadzwa then scooped the award in September and October, while Merciful Ncube of Ngezi Platinum was the top goalscorer for November and he will also get his prize this afternoon.

Chimbadzwa has 20 goals to his name, beating other strong contenders, including the pair of MacDonald Motsi and Moses Demera, both of Gunners, who had 16 and 15 goals respectively.

He said he was excited after such a personal achievement, although his club finished a distance eighth in the league.

“I am delighted; my principle was just to do my job as a striker. It’s my duty to score and it feels nice when there is competition and there are prizes.

“I also felt it was high time I proved myself,” Chimbadzwa said.
