Chimedza hails Nakamba’s professionalism

WARRIORS legend, Cephas Chimedza, has hailed Aston Villa midfielder, Marvelous Nakamba, for keeping his mouth shut despite being frozen out for a lengthy period.

Nakamba is yet to feature for the club in its 20 league fixtures this season.

Last week, Villa coach, Unai Emery, ended speculation surrounding Nakamba’s future by telling reporters that he had told the anchorman to leave the club this transfer window.

However, Nakamba appears to be unmoved by his situation. He has not moaned through his agent or blamed the club or the coach for not giving him much game time like what other players do when they get similar treatment.

The English Premiership January transfer window will close for all leagues across the UK and Europe in next seven days, and Nakamba has to decide whether to stick around or look for game time elsewhere.

Chimedza urged Nakamba to stay calm to avoid rushed decisions.

“In situations like this, it’s very important for a player not to talk too much to the media about the situation and Nakamba has remained professional,” said Chimedza.

“In football and life, we should never say never. Some players in the past were deemed surplus to requirements, but ended up playing at the highest level again.

“Nakamba has been in this situation before at Club Brugge and it ended well for him.”

Chimedza also dismissed the notion that Nakamba should change his style of play to fit into the coach’s plans.

“Nakamba saw the light of EPL because of his style of play and prior to that, coaches played him because of that. We should also not forget that he is a grown-up who knows what’s best for his situation.

“If he is to move to the new team, I’m sure that club will sign him because of what they have seen him doing before,” he said.

The former Dynamos and CAPS United player said it’s going to be difficult for his countryman to find a perfect club during the mid-season transfer window.

“Moving clubs, especially during the mid-season transfer window, is not easy as people might think,” he said.

“There are a lot of factors to consider and they all need to fall into place. We are talking about joining a team that wants you, with the three parties involved coming to terms with the financial package and it all has to happen in the next six days.”

At the moment, no EPL team has shown keen interest in him.
