New local film set for release

MUTARE-based filmmaker Amanda Ranganwa has wrapped up the production of her much-awaited film titled Depth of Emotions, which is set to hit the big screen on Friday.

The film focuses on barrenness, adoption and the Afrocentric perspective of marriage.

“We are living in a diluted society where some people are still stuck to our traditional beliefs whereby one is bound to marry another wife if the one they have is barren.

“The film questions the depth of two people in an African marriage set up,” reads part of the synopsis.

Ranganwa said she was elated after meeting her target.

“I was the script writer and I am really excited we managed to complete working with characters like Simbarashe Chapola, Joseph Hakurimwi, Lynetter Harahwa, Everjoyce Mahachi, Barbra Vhengedza and Precious Mzulu.

“The film was shot and produced in Mutare and I was funding myself and as much as it was draining, it made me realise my capabilities.

“I hope local television stations will offer a hand in publicising our films so that we reach more audiences.

“The film is going to be launched this Saturday at Golden Villa Hotel in Mutare,” she said.
