Embattled Businessmen Mike Chimombe and Moses Mpofu have suffered a major blow once again as regional magistrate Stanford Mambanje dismissed their bail application in the street lights tender scam.
Magistrate Mambanje ruled that it is not in dispute that they are men of means, they have not denied the state’s claims that they earn about US$250k in their business endeavors and may be able to sustain a living outside this jurisdiction.
He added that he is convinced that there is case against the two which will be properly ventilated in trial and continued detention pending trial would be in the interests of justice.
