China donates agricultural equipment

his behalf by Minister of State in Vice President John Nkomo’s Office Cde Flora Buka, Vice President John Nkomo said Zimbabwe received the donation during his visit to China last year where he attended the 11th Western China International Fair.

“The donation of agricultural equipment symbolises China’s intense desire to assist our country to turnaround our economy since agriculture was identified as a pivotal sector to our economic development and economic turnaround strategy,” he said.

Cde Nkomo said the donation would boost agriculture production as Zimbabwe strives to attain food security in drought prone areas while consolidating the land reform programme. China recently donated US$14 million worth of wheat and rice for households in drought areas.

Chinese Ambassador Mr Xin Shunkang said China would assist Zimbabwe at any time.
