CHINA is committed to deepening cooperation with Zimbabwe in higher education and scientific innovation, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding has said.

Ambassador Zhou said this after he held talks with Higher and Tertiary Education, Innovation, Science and Technology Development Minister, Ambassador Frederick Shava, recently.

The meeting focused on implementing agreements from the 2024 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC).

In a statement today, Ambassador Zhou reaffirmed China’s support for Zimbabwe’s Education 5.0.

“Delighted to meet with Hon. Minister Shava…Our discussions on deepening bilateral cooperation in higher and tertiary education, science and technology were both fruitful and inspiring. I reaffirmed China’s steadfast support for Zimbabwe’s Heritage-Based Education 5.0.

“Together, we will turn our dialogue into tangible outcomes: Equipping youth with global perspectives and innovative tools through scholarship programmes and the Confucius Institute to unlock Zimbabwe’s future potential.”

Ambassador Zhou also pledged to accelerate infrastructure and capacity building via collaborative projects, joint research, laboratory upgrades, and technical support for STEM and digital education.

China, Ambassador Zhou added, is committed to empowering communities and boosting employment prospects through multi-stakeholder university-business partnerships.
