China to record documentary on Zim tourist sites

HARARE – The Chinese government has sent a  delegation to record a documentary based on all major tourist sites in  the country aimed at marketing brand-Zimbabwe at China-Africa Business  forum to be held in September this year.

The video will be played at the forum, several multimedia and social  media platforms.

In April this year Zimbabwe and Chinese firm, Touchroad International  Holdings Group signed a  Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

The deal worth $1,2 billion is expected to unlock investments in the  Zimbabwean tourism and hospitality industry and contribute meaningfully  towards national economic revival, growth and development

Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Priscah Mupfumira told the  media that the visit was a follow up to engagements made during the  state visit by a high powered delegation that was led by President-elect  Emmerson Mnangagwa this year.

“As a follow up to the MOU, Touchroad International brought a business  delegation to Zimbabwe which expressed interest in tourism development  in Victoria falls and elsewhere in the country,” she said.

“Furthermore during the ZIM-CHINA business forum, the China delegation  led by the politburo member of the China People’s Party of Huangzhou  Province offered to bring experts to shoot a video to promote Zimbabwe  in China.”

The Zimbabwe government is implementing an aggressive marketing  strategy aimed at boosting the tourism industry while at the same time  aiming to unlock investment opportunities in the sector.

Mupfumira said the country was endowed with a lot of natural resources  and tourist sites which, if properly marketed, would grow the tourism  sector within the country.

“These products, if strategically developed, competitively packaged and  aggressively marketed, will increase the length of stay, product  portfolio and encourage geographical spread of tourism within the  country,” said Mupfumira. – New Ziana
