POLICE in Mashonaland East Province have arrested a 32-year-old man from Domboshava, under Chief Chinamhora, for aggravated indecent assault on charges of sodomising a mentally challenged man (23).

ZRP Mashonaland East provincial spokesperson Inspector Simon Chazovachiyi said on an unknown date sometime this month, the complainant was asleep, alone in his bedroom, when the suspect sneaked in through the door.

While inside, he said the suspect produced a knife and threatened to stab him.

“After threatening the 23-year-old man, the suspect removed his shoes and got into the complainant’s blankets, removed the complainant’s clothes and sodomised him. After the act, the suspect went away,” he said.

“The matter came to light on January 5, 2026, when the man was at church, and he disclosed the ordeal to a church member from Shamhu Village under Chief Chinamhora. The church member then informed the man’s aunt.

“The aunt accompanied her nephew to the police, where a report was made, leading to the suspect’s arrest.”

Insp Chazovachiyi said investigations were in progress.
