Chindito shot an aggregate score of 217 points to successfully defend his title and emerge as the overall winner at Cleveland Range in Harare. Daniel Mbero closely followed him and Tambudzai Garauzive was third overall.
Garauzive went on to win in the women’s category.
Chindito joined the event midway through after returning from South Africa where he took part in the South Africa Combat Rifle Shooting competition. The shottist – who won bronze and silver medals at the South Africa event – was happy with his performances and expects to win more tournaments.
“I am now looking forward to the next event and I will keep working hard at training.
“The sport is very good and it is good to see it grow,” Chindito said.
Chindito and Garauzive walked away with floating trophies.
Garauzive was dominant in the women’s event with her confidence and composure.
“This is good for me and the team that brought me here. I give credit to my coach Nyasha Chikondori who has helped me a lot,” she said.
The Female Falling Plates team event was won by Zimbabwe Prison Services team A and the ZPS team B was second.
For the outcome ZPS team A won a trophy.
In the men’s section Presidential Guard A won the floating trophy and Parachute Regiment was second.
The overall female aggregate was won by Mechanics Brigade to walk away with the floating trophy with Commando Regiment coming second.
Airforce of Zimbabwe won the male aggregate shoot edging Parachute Regiment into second.
Martin Chedondo was the guest of honour and was delighted with the success of the tournament.
