Paul Pindani in CHINHOYI
CHINHOYI residents are backing acting Town Clerk, Engineer Simon Marara, to land the post on a substantive basis.
It was left vacant when Maxwell Kaitano became a High Court Administrative Judge.
Acting Housing Director, Mavis Kabangure, and Finance Director, Zephaniah Chirware, have also thrown in their names into the hat for the post.
Marara took over after charming councillors.
He has put in place a raft of measures to turn around the fortunes of the local authority that has been battling with a host of challenges such as inadequate water supply and persistent sewer bursts and a bad road network.
He appears to have also impressed the residents.
Mavis Mugavaneni, of Cold Stream, told H- Metro, Marara deserves the job on a substantive basis.
“Marara has managed to solve the water crisis which has been a thorn in the flesh of the Council for quite a long time. He has all the attributes needed for a Town Clerk.
“I hope he will get the job.
“He is someone who has an open door policy and is always ready to listen to the residents.”
George Kambeva, of Chikonohono, said he has total confidence in the leadership of Marara.
“Marara is the right candidate for the post. He needs to be given time for the town to grow and develop.”
Carol Dzenga, of Hunyani high density suburbs, said she had no problems in Marara being appointed to be the substantive Town Clerk of Chinhoyi.
“I believe he is capable of steering the council’s ship out of the stormy challenges bedeviling our local authority.
“He needs the full support of councillors, management and residents, “ said Dzenga.
