CHINHOYI RANGERS SET THE PACE

NEWCOMERS in the ZIFA Northern Region Division One League, Chinhoyi Rangers, are now setting the pace after they dislodged N’ombeyaora from the top of the table.

They edged Ngezi Under-19 1-0 at the Chinhoyi Stadium yesterday.

Ashwin Chihowa struck the only goal in the 40th minute.

Chinhoyi Rangers have played eight games and have 16 points.

Rangers Gaffer, Ndawana Dube, said his club’s objective was to avoid relegation.

“At the moment my main objective is to fight and survive relegation.

“Whatever comes next will be a bonus.

“Today’ s game was very intense. We picked up in the last quarter of the first half.

“I would like to salute the boys for putting up a good fight. Our team is still young and we are still learning every day,” said Dube.

He thanked the fans for rallying behind the team.

“The fans have been amazing and fantastic. Hats off to them,” said Dube.

Rangers captain Gift Bello said they were trying to build a strong team.

“We are trying to build up a strong team for Chinhoyi .

“We hope in the next coming two years we will then start talking about gaining promotion into the top-flight league.”

One of the team’s sponsors Thomas Chidzomba, who is the director of Chidzomba Foundation, said the players and coaches were doing a good job.
