CHINHOYI residents have welcomed the appointment of lawyer Mike Mutsvairo as the new substantive Chamber Secretary for the Municipality of Chinhoyi.
This follows the retirement and subsequent death of former Chamber Secretary Abel Gotora.
The residents believe Mutsvairo, from Mutsvairo and Associates, will bring the right experience and skills to the troubled council.
Municipality of Chinhoyi Public Relations Manager Tichaona Mlauzi confirmed Mutsvairo’s appointment.
“We believe he is quite knowledgeable and we look forward to working together.”
Tendai Musonza, the chairman of the Chinhoyi Combined Residents Association (CCRA), said Mutsvairo was the right man for the job.
“He has experience in dispute resolution, which can help the council in resolving conflicts effectively,” he said.
His experience in fields like environmental law, corporate law and real estate law, said Musonza, will provide the Council with the right personnel to deal with such issues. Lovemore Zuze, a local resident from Hunyani high-density suburb, said Mutsvairo’s substantial legal knowledge and training will help the Council navigate complex legal challenges and help it ensure compliance in many fields.
“The appointment of Mutsvairo is a step in the right direction,” Zuze said.
The residents are hopeful that Mutsvairo’s appointment will usher in a new era of effective local government governance in Chinhoyi.
