Chinhoyi snake charmer dies from puff adder strike

A Chinhoyi snake charmer’s plan to show off his latest catch, a puff adder he had caught near his fowl run, turned fatal on Thursday after the reptile bit him on the leg.

Show Chedu of Alaska Dolomite near Chinhoyi Caves, died from the snake’s venom at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital where he was receiving treatment.

Chedu was well known for catching snakes, including deadly puff adders.

On the fateful day, an intoxicated Chedu is said to have paraded the snake around the compound, which contributed to him being bitten.

Those who had gathered to watch the free show took pictures and recorded videos as Chedu paraded the reptile.
