NYASHA Chintuli feels that scoring six goals, in his first campaign in a foreign league, represents a success story.
The former Dynamos forward spent the last five months at Eswatini’s Nsizingini Hotspurs.
He won the club’s Golden Boot for the just-ended 2023-2024 season despite playing half of the campaign.
He scored six goals and provided three assists from 12 matches.
The forward said when he left Dynamos, he wanted a change of fortunes.
“In other people’s eyes, six goals are not enough but, in the eyes of a player, six goals are enough depending on the season and the country.a
“Scoring six times is a lot of work considering this was my first year in a foreign country.
“Someone can score 10 goals from 30 games, if you do the maths, my ratio is better.
“Last season, Dynamos’ top goalscorer had five goals, I only scored once from 19 games, so for me, six goals is an upgrade.”
Chintuli played 12 games, scored six times and provided three assists.
The 29-year-old said:
“As a striker, I am targeting more goals and more game time. I don’t have much time to rest, I have to keep on working hard since I am looking forward to playing in the CAF Confederation Cup.
“Competition is always tough in international games. I am hoping to score international goals and win some international awards.
“There is a big task at hand but nothing is impossible with hard work, passion, dedication and determination.”
On the difference between the leagues in Zimbabwe and Eswatini, Chintuli said:
“There is not much difference between the two leagues but, because of different reasons, I think our local league is more competitive.
“Either way, football is all the same. There is always tough competition.
“Every jungle has got its own difficulties. It’s less competitive but I have to work twice as hard to be taken seriously as a foreigner.”
