NICO United forward, Tinashe Chinyani, said he is looking forward to starting the new season on a high note.
The Botswana top-flight football league is scheduled to start on September 16.
He used to play for ZIFA Northern Region Division One side, ZRP Morris.
He then trained with Black Mambas for the whole of 2019 before the Covid-19 outbreak halted all public gatherings and sporting activities.
Chinyani then moved to Eswatini, where he played for Tinyosi FC.
At Tinyosi, he teamed up with three other Zimbabweans – Kelvin Ndebele, Jacob Mloyi, and Kudakwashe Tsvamuro.
He was then lured by Nico United in January and played 10 games before sustaining an injury.
He has now recovered and hopes to have an injury-free season.
“I would like to start on a high note since we are playing the first game at home.
“Getting maximum points would be great, as it would boost our confidence going forward,” said Chinyani.
“As a person who plays up the field, I have given myself a challenge to hit double figures both in goals and assists.”
Chinyani said it was easy for him to adapt in Botswana, as the people were friendly.
“It was not really that difficult to adapt.
“People here are friendly and make everything easy for you, so I’m settling well.
“My only challenge is the temperatures here are much higher than in Zimbabwe, and I hope to get used to it with time.
“I wouldn’t say there are really any big differences in this league, as football in southern Africa is almost the same.”
