REIGNING Soccer Star of the Year and influential FC Platinum attacking midfielder, Rodwell Chinyengetere, has joined the great trek to South Africa and is now in the books of Telkom finalists, Baroka United.

Chinyengetere, who is on the verge of emulating the feat of the legendary duo of George Shaya and Peter Ndlovu by winning back-to-back Soccer Star of the Year accolades after being named in this year’s best 11 players, will link up with another Zimbabwean and former FC Platinum winger, Talent Chawapihwa.

Baroka FC, who take on mighty Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout final, confirmed the signing of the Zimbabwe international with a post on their Twitter account.

“You thought we were done? Please help us in welcoming the newly signed Zimbabwean international striker, Rodwell Chinyengetere,” Twitted Baroka FC on their official Twitter account yesterday.

FC Platinum media relations officer Chido Chizondo also confirmed the developments.

“Yes, its true (that Chinyengetere has joined Baroka FC). That is the official position, but we have him registered for the Caf Champions League so the two clubs are still negotiating,” said Chizondo.

Chinyengetere, who made his Premiership debut with Hwange, is likely to join the Absa Premiership outfit in January when the transfer window opens.
