Yadah forward Jerry Chipangura says he is grateful to all those who stood by him and supported him to come back after having a difficult phase that threatened his football career.
Chipangura joined Yadah FC on loan from Harare City on the halfway season.
Chipangura who was previously convicted of being in possession of drugs was desperately seeking to return onto the pitch.
He was even ready to redeem himself with any professional football club willing to house him. Yadah, who were struggling in front of goal, were desperate to find a striker and brought in Chipangura. He was considered the biggest gamble after many had lost faith in him. But for a team that needed to survive on the last day, it desperately needed his seven goals that proved essential for the team including the winning goal against Dynamos that saw them surviving relegation on the final day. “For me it was difficult to come back due to many factors but I have a group of people who were around me who urged me to return,” he said.
“My friends including Tellmore Pio, William Manondo, Abel Marombo and Oscar Machapa really encouraged me to keep going and helped me believe again. “The journey was a long one as you can trace back to the times to where I have individuals coming up and buy me shooters. These includes the likes of Tinashe Chinyani, Nigel Chigwedere, and Munyaradzi Kareva. Chipangura says it was emotional scoring the winning goal. Scoring the winning goal was emotional as it’s what is expected from me.
“The team needed a win and playing Dynamos was going to be difficult and I am grateful we managed to get the desired result.”
