ACE music promoter, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, has dismissed claims that the Seh Calaz album launch is aimed at competing with Winky D’s show.
Speaking at a Zimdancehall luncheon ahead of Seh Calaz’s show, he said the two artists are complementing each other.
“Let me put the record straight, Winky D is also launching his album on the same day. We are not competing; we are actually complementing each other.
“There is no way the whole of Zimbabwe can fit into the Harare International Conference Centre. There’s also no way the country is going to fit into the City Sports Centre,” he said.
Chipaz said the Seh Calaz show was also an option for fans.
“So vatadza kuenda kwaWinky D vanoenda kwaSeh Calaz, same way vatadza kuenda kwaCalaz voenda kwaWinky D.
“This ensures that our fans have a memorable New Year’s Eve,” he said.
He said the luncheon was meant to bring artists together
“I have heard that Zimdancehall artists do not get along, so this is to demystify that.
“I have done this before when we celebrated Tuku’s 60th birthday.” He also hailed the Government for heeding their pleas.
“It is my wish that in 2023, we will continue receiving support from the Government so that we promote our upcoming artists.
“I believe there is so much talent outside Harare and Bulawayo which needs support to create a better artistic Zimbabwe,” he said
