Chipinge hosts International Day for Universal Access to Information commemorations

CHIPINGE District in Manicaland Province is on Thursday hosting commemorations of the International Day for Universal Access to Information (IDUAI) at Garahwa Grounds.

This year’s theme is “Upholding Information Integrity in the Digital Age: The Role of Access to Information in Addressing Information Disorder.”

Observed annually on September 28, the 2026 commemorations highlight that in a digital world overflowing with unverified content, misinformation and disinformation, access to information alone is not enough.

The commemorations are set to be addressed by Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Dr Zhemu Soda and Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services Minister Tatenda Mavetera, who is being represented by Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti.

Also present at the event are Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Permanent Secretary Nick Mangwana, parastatal representatives from both ministries, Zanu PF Manicaland Province leadership and other stakeholders.

Last year, the commemorations were held at Selous in Chegutu.
