THE Chipinge community this week came together to mourn one of their own following the death of magistrate, Mr Makamera Waini, who died in a horrific traffic accident early Sunday morning.He was 32. Mr Waini was laid to rest at his rural home in Gudo Village in Chiredzi North on Tuesday. People from across Chipinge thronged his Gaza high-density suburb house to pay their last respects before his body was taken to his rural home on Monday night.
Mourners described him as a young, humble and energetic man who discharged his duties fairly in the Judiciary Service of Zimbabwe.
Legal practitioner Mr Langton Mhungu of Matutu, Kwirira and Associates Law Firm, described Mr Waini as a hard-working man who distinguished himself as a professional.
He said the legal fraternity was robbed of a true cadre and the void left behind by his sudden death would be difficult to fill.
“The fraternity and the country at large were robbed of a hard-working man who had dedicated himself in the delivery of justice in this country. He was surely a hard-working man who wanted things done in a transparent way. His work will forever be remembered,” he said.
Public prosecutor, Mr Brian Madzura, said they were still to come to terms with the death of their workmate. “We are conveying our heartfelt condolences to Mr Waini’s family and the nation at large over the passing on of our workmate who had dedicated himself to serve the nation.
He was a bright man who always wanted things done in a correct and transparent way. We are deeply saddened by losing our colleague in this way,” he said.
Chipinge business community chairperson, Mr James Gabaza, said the district was saddened by the sudden loss of an intellectual who played a crucial role in the society.
He said it was very disheartening to lose young men who are expected to contribute more to their families and the country at large.
“We are very saddened by the untimely loss of a fellow comrade who played a crucial role in the delivery of justice in the district and the whole nation at large. He was a good man and may his soul rest in eternal peace,” he said.
