TAKESURE Chiragwi praised his charges after Ngezi Platinum Stars edged Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 at Baobab on Saturday.
Debutant Tapiwa Mandinyenya fired home in the 10th minute from Valentine Kadonzvo’s pass.
It was also Madamburo’s 10th victory in 27 fixtures, having drawn 10, and lost seven times.
Chiragwi hailed the team’s character despite a below-par performance.
“I’m happy with the win, but also a bit disappointed with our performance,” said Chiragwi.
“We didn’t play well, tactically, maybe the boys are still suffering from fatigue since we travelled to Bulawayo last weekend.
“Sometimes, it’s also good to salvage maximum points in such a situation.
“It shows the players have the desired character.”
He emphasised the importance of being consistent.
His counterpart, Nilton Terroso, felt a share of the spoils would have been a fair result.
“We didn’t start the game well. I think we lost it in the first 10 minutes when we conceded.
“The boys were giving the ball away easily, it was much unlike how we like to play.
“It was a disappointing result because we know we did enough to, at least, secure a point, but that’s part of the game,” said Terroso.
