Chiredzi Arts Festival roars into life

FOR the first time in history, the sugarcane town of Chiredzi will taste a sweeter dose of arts and culture in the name of Chiredzi Arts Festival.

The three-day festival which is sponsored by Chiredzi Town Council, Pacific and Air Zimbabwe will start today (Friday) and ends on Sunday. ZiFM shall broadcast live selected slots.

The programme shall start today with dancehall fiesta featuring the likes of Kinna, Dadza D, Ricky Fire and Chiredzi’s own Kalabash among others.

Tomorrow (Saturday) shall be a mixed bag featuring the likes of sungura expert, Nicholas Zacharia, Progress Chipfumo, Tocky Vibes, Roki, Pachihera, Kapfupi, and Mutare’s Wasu & Syndicate as well as Dino Mudondo.

Finally, Sunday will be a family day featuring the likes of Sulumani Chimbetu, Botswana-based Dr Tawanda, Trevor Dongo, Trymore Bande, Mutare’s Assegai Crew and many others.

According to the festival’s marketing manager, Mr Masimba Hove, the three-day festival shall be a yearly event for the Lowveld folk.
