Chiredzi hunt for first win

AFTER narrowly losing 2-1 when they travelled to Kadoma to play Black Rhinos over the weekend, Chiredzi FC are geared to turn the tables to record their first win of the season when they host How Mine at Chishamiso Stadium today. Moses Chunga’s side suffered a setback at Rimuka Stadium when referee Ruzive Ruzive ruled that a Beavan Chikaka 38th minute strike had crossed the goal line with the post-match review by SuperSport showing that a Chiredzi FC defender had cleared the ball before it crossed the line.

Chiredzi FC captain Fidelis Mangezi said they are set to record their first win of the season when they host How Mine in the fifth fixture of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer league.

He said they had since forgotten the officiating blunder by Ruzive which saw Chauya Chipembere gifted with three points which they did not deserve.

“We are going to win against How Mine tomorrow. We have since forgotten about the defeat we suffered in Kadoma because we can’t be worried much when a team wins under controversial circumstances. Our focus now is on the future. Our next assignment will prove to the world that we are not just adding numbers.

“We want our first win of the season to be at home so that our supporters will help us celebrate. They have faith in the team and they believe in us and we will definitely play to put a smile on their faces,” said Mangezi.

How Mine are travelling to the Lowveld in high spirits after bagging their first three points of the season when they won 2-1 against Shabanie Mine.
Philani “Beefy” Ncube, the miners head coach, said his team travels to Chiredzi today to compete like always.

“We are coming to Chiredzi to compete as usual. The rest we will speak after 90 minutes,” said Ncube.
