CHIREDZI FC could be sinking faster into relegation as they are likely to lose three points from their ill-fated Castle Lager Premiership match against Chapungu at Ascot on Saturday.
The Lowveld side arrived late for the match and, as if that were not enough, Gishon Ntini’s side did not have their players’ licences and complete uniforms. Premier Soccer League chief executive Kenny Ndebele yesterday said a determination on the fate of the game is yet to be made as they were waiting for a report from Chiredzi.
Ndebele said Chapungu and the match officials have already submitted their reports while Chiredzi were expected to write their defence by last night.
“Chiredzi did not turn up at the match venue on time and so we have asked them to submit their report on what exactly happened.
“The match commissioner and the referee submitted their reports and we are yet to go through them.
“But we also need to see Chiredzi’s reasons before we take the matter further,” said Ndebele.
Ndebele said Chiredzi could either be brought before a disciplinary hearing and the hearing committee could then make a final determination on their fate.
“Depending on the reports, we can call for a hearing or we can use the standing orders to make a ruling,” said Ndebele.
If the PSL are to use the standing orders as it’s likely, Chapungu will be awarded the game on a 3-0 scoreline while Chiredzi could be fined for bringing the game into disrepute.
“At the moment there is no action that has been taken because we asked all parties to make submissions,” said Ndebele.
Meanwhile, Ndebele said action in the Castle Lager Premiership will be put on ice this weekend to pave way for the One Wallet final between Dynamos and Triangle at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.
