Chiredzi man ‘kills’ 60 year old father

A 19-year-old man from Chiredzi has been arrested  for allegedly murdering his 60-year-old father who was trying to solve a dispute that had ensued in the family.

Masvingo provincial police spokesperson Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa confirmed the incident and said that Naison Heleletani Tsuuka of Village 10, Chizvirizvi, Chiredzi was recently struck by his son Energy Heleletani Tsuuka as he sought to resolve a family dispute that had arose between Energy and his aunt.

“On 11 June around 7AM, Naison went to Energy’s homestead in a bid to solve an issue between Energy and his aunt but a misunderstanding ensued. Energy picked up a mopane log and struck his father once on the head, once on the hip and once on the collarbone. Naison was heard crying out for help by his seven-year-old granddaughter and his wife Violet Tsuuka (57) who rushed to the house and found Naison kneeling on the ground bleeding from the head covered in dry mopane leaves,” he said.

Insp Dhewa said Nelson was rushed to Chizvirizvi Clinic where he died before he could be transferred to Chiredzi General Hospital. A report was made to the police leading to the arrest of Energy who was found hiding in a nearby bush. – Sharon Chimenya, Masvingo Correspondent.
