LOS ANGELES. — It has taken a little while for the next Transformers movie to arrive, but this summer will see ‘Transformers: Rose of the Beasts’ hit the big screen.
And, it looks set to be one of the biggest entries in the franchise to date according to star Antony Ramos.
While there are only so many ways you can show a bunch of robots banging seven bells out of each other, the reboot of the franchise in 2018 proved that sometimes a change in creative team and focus can make all the different to a series that has failed to connect with critics and has started to become a little jaded for audiences.
Zimbabwean actor Tongayi Arnold Chirisa is part of the cast of the US$200 million movie set for release on June 9.
And, the initial buzz is that it could be the biggest movie of the American summer.
Returning to the action and spectacle that have captured moviegoers around the world, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will take audiences on a ‘90s globetrotting adventure and introduce the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the existing battle on earth between Autobots and Decepticons. Directed by Steven Caple Jr and starring Anthony Ramos and Dominique Fishback, the film arrives in theatres on June 9, 2023.
If its trailer views are anything to go by, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is going to be a monster hit at the box office.
While the franchise seemed to have been sent to the scrap heap after The Last Knight, Bumblebee’s surprising arrival means that fans want to see more from the Transformers series once again.
When the trailer for the movie arrived in December, it was reportedly watched just under 500 million times within the first week.
This was more than double the views received by Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 combined.
Whether that interest will carry over to the movie’s box office is something that we are moving ever closer to as the film is set to premiere on June 9, right in the middle of a very busy summer of big movies that will all be fighting for the attention of cinemagoers who are being ever more frugal over how much they spend on trips to the cinema and which movies they are happy to skip until they hit streaming services and VOD.
While the Transformers movies come with a hefty budget, there is little doubt that the box office takings soon turn the film into another money-spinner for the franchise. — movieweb.com.
