CHITEMBWE EYES CHIBUKU SUCCESS

LLOYD Chitembwe wants a good run in the Chibuku Super Cup to redeem a season which hasn’t gone according to plan in the league.

CAPS United have a tough date against Black Rhinos in the Chibuku Super Cup first-round tie at Vengere tomorrow.

Chitembwe said the knockout tournament provides them with an opportunity to hut for success.

“Clearly, we have had a very disappointing season and our opponents have the opposite of what we experienced, during the first half of the season,” said Chitembwe.

“They had a very good first half.

“The game is going to be difficult. As CAPS United, the responsibility will never change.

“We have to go out there and try to win the match. “One definite thing is that there will be a winner on Saturday.

“If it ends in a stalemate, it will be decided through penalty shootouts.

“We have prepared well to be competitive.”

Chiitembwe said it was good for players to enrol for coaching courses for them to have a better understanding of the game.

One of his defenders, Marshall Machazane, has enrolled for a coaching course.

“It’s good for their development. They will also get to understand things that go through the mind of a coach.

“I am sure that will bring them to the level of getting to understand how to manage different situations.

“It’s good for them to attend these courses as it is for their benefit,” he said.

It was not clear yesterday whether Chitembwe will turn to returning midfielder, Joel “Josta” Ngodzo, for this match.

But, in Joseph Thulani, the coach has one of the best performers this season.

Black Rhinos head coach, Stanford “Stix” Mutizwa, said they have been working hard as a team to get the best possible result.

“We have been working hard day in, day out.

“We have been improving on our intensity as we feel we have to add more intensity to our game.

“We want to emulate performances of our last two games.

“’We have to stay focused and consistent. We are out for a positive result to give our fans something to cheer about.”

Black Rhinos have struggled to win against CAPS United in recent years.

Mutizwa says he won’t be looking into history as he believes anything can happen in football.

“There is always a first time in everything, so going into this match, we wouldn’t want to limit our chances because of history.

“Football evolves and we are up for the challenge.

“We are going to make some changes to the team that you will witness, both for tactical reasons, and bringing in fresh legs.

“If we play our cards well, home advantage will come in handy and give us an edge,” he said.

Chauya Chipembere will be motivated by a point they collected against FC Platinum at Mandava last weekend.
