Chitiyo seals move to South Africa

RONALD Chitiyo has committed himself to a four-year deal with South African Division One side, Royal Eagles, who believe he could power their bid for promotion into the Absa Premiership.

Chitiyo, whose contract with Dynamos ends at the end of the season, will sign his deal with the South African side once his current deal with the Glamour Boys ends.

The diminutive midfielder impressed the Royal Eagles scouts, who have been watching him this season, and the two parties committed themselves to a deal.

Chitiyo, though, can only sign his deal at the expiry of the one he has with DeMbare.

Yesterday, Chitiyo told The Herald that he had not committed himself to moving to Royal Eagles although the newspaper has it on good authority that the deal has been sealed.

Efforts to get a comment from the player’s manager Edzai Kasinauyo were also unsuccessful as his mobile phone went unanswered.

Chitiyo met the Royal Eagles’ officials and they agreed terms with the Zimbabwean forward who is convinced that he needs to start his adventure, in foreign lands, at a team where he won’t be under severe pressure.

The Zimbabwe international forward trained with both Ajax Cape Town and Orlando Pirates before heading back to Zimbabwe this year without a deal.

Eagles, who are based in Durban, confirmed that they have agreed terms with Chitiyo.

The club’s manager Richard Makhoba also confirmed the arrival of Abraham Nteo as assistant coach.

“We are delighted to announce that ‘Wire’ Nteo is our new assistant coach,” Makhoba told KickOff.

“John Tlale remains our goalkeeper coach while Jomo Ntuli is second assistant coach.”

Eagles – formerly Sivutsa Stars – are mid-table on the NFD standings, 10 points behind the leaders and 10 points, ahead of the bottom-placed team. – Sports Reporter/KickOff.
