Chitungwiza in-laws fined for assault

their sentences were set aside for the next five years.
The three had denied the charge of assault when they appeared before Chitungwiza magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa.

Oliver Kanyungwe (69), his wife Judith (60) and their son Gerald (38) of Unit K took the daughter-in-law from her husband in South Africa and assaulted her before sending her packing.

The trio argued that Shyleen Bhunu (17) fabricated the charges against them.
Prosecutor Mr Luke Mutupe proved that on April 9 this year, Gerald and his mother Judith came from South Africa together with Bhunu.

Judith punched Bhunu several times while Gerald floored her with slaps.
Oliver was the last to assault her by poking her head and pushing her out of the gate while trying to wrest her baby from her.
Bhunu ran away and reported the matter to the police.
