Businessman and philanthropist Mr Wicknell Chivayo has pledged a fleet of vehicles and a collective of US$2 million in cash to support various welfare programmes.
In a post on his Facebook page yesterday, Mr Chivayo announced the donation of 10 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR vehicles along with US$1 million to a special fund dedicated to welfare initiatives.
Additionally, two other funds will each receive five 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series VXR vehicles and US$500 000.
“The vehicles are intended to support welfare focused and operational outreach programmes under the respective Cheer Funds,” he said.
However, he noted that the donations are subject to approval by President Mnangagwa.
The announcement was made as the country observed Unity Day, commemorating the signing of the 1987 Unity Accord by the late former President Robert Mugabe and the late former Vice President Dr Joshua Nkomo.
In his post, Sir Wicknell, as he is affectionately known, emphasised that Unity Day serves as a reminder of the nation’s commitment to peace and cohesion.
“This Day stands as a powerful reminder of our collective resolve to uphold peace and unity as Zimbabweans,” he said.
He praised the contributions of various national entities and highlighted their role in making Zimbabwe a peaceful country.
Mr Chivayo also acknowledged the Government’s efforts to enhance welfare initiatives, citing institutions that provide essential services.

“As young patriotic businesspeople, however, we must fully embrace our responsibility to complement Government’s efforts through corporate social responsibility initiatives,” he said.
Additionally, he gifted vehicles to women members of his Church a few days ago and has since gifted buses and more than 50 other vehicles to his church.
The philanthropist has made various lifechanging and impactful donations throughout the year including to artists such as Jah Prayzah, Mai naBaba Charamba and Machanic Manyeruke, among others.
He marked his recent birthday with a generous spree of donations valued at approximately US$5,3 million.
Chivayo donated six Toyota Land Cruisers, each valued at US$190 000, to the Zanu PF top leadership for the Women’s League. Additionally, ten Toyota Hilux GD6 vehicles, worth US$65,000 each, were given to the Women’s League branches in the 10 provinces.
He also contributed US$500 000 in cash to Zanu-PF across the 10 provinces, reinforcing his support for the party.
In support of Young Women for Economic Development, Chivayo gifted five Toyota Hilux GD6 vehicles, each valued at US$65,000, along with US$100 000 distributed among the 10 provinces.
His gifts spanned vehicles and cash contributions aimed at supporting political, educational and religious institutions across Zimbabwe.
