BUSINESS mogul and self-proclaimed king of selfie videos, Phillip Chiyangwa on Friday night endorsed the animated comedy series The Bulawayo Show during its screening at the Rainbow Cinema One. He made a cameo appearance in one of the scenes where Sox was showing Ntuthu his new smart phone.Chiyangwa said “Zvirikufaya Bulawayo Show and keep up the good work”, and the near full house applauded.
His appearance was one of the celebrity guest appearances on the show with dance queen Sandra Ndebele also showing her appreciation for the show.

In an interview, the executive producer of the show Zenzele Ndebele, said this was part of the new things that they were introducing to the show to make it appealing to the masses.

He said Chiyangwa, through a friend, watched the first episode and was impressed at what they were doing and did not hesitate when they asked him to say something about the show.

“The show is growing steadily and is being accepted by people outside Bulawayo. We thought of introducing the celebrity guest appearances and we saw that people were impressed by that and we shall continue doing that in the future,” said Ndebele.

He said the second DVD of The Bulawayo Show would be sold after it is screened in South Africa at the end of November.
The second screening of the show at Rainbow Cinema One lived up to expectations as it was educative but not as hilarious as before. As promised producers reduced the time of the show and also its content. There were fewer jokes and dialogue in the show and more music and singing.

There were too many gaps especially a scene where Rato and Sox wanted to enter the latter’s teacher, Miss Nonoza’s party.
They were thrown out six times by the bouncers and this took about seven minutes, making their efforts lose taste and humour as it was too long.
The music, although good, was overplayed during the one-hour show leaving some believing that they were robbed.

The introduction of Khulu Nxumalo and Khulu Kamuzu brought a new dimension of humour to the show as it was very much needed. Khulu Kamuzu, of Malawian origin, speaks isiNdebele in a deep Malawian accent that is hilarious.

The ever popular Ntuthu’s guide was back and he spoke about the dangers of domestic violence and its three phases.
Phase one is the building of tension, where, according to Ntuthu, the abuser, may be extremely critical, bullying, moody and demanding.

Phase two is battering. In this phase, the abuser’s behaviour escalates to physical or extreme emotional violence and the individual may feel completely helpless in controlling the escalation.

The “honeymoon” is the last phase and Ntuthu explained it as a phase where the abuser may repeatedly express what appears to be genuine feelings of remorse and may shower his partner with attention or gifts.

This proved to be the most memorable and was well received by the crowd as they applauded Ntuthu for pointing out the dangers of domestic violence at the end of the guide.
