Zifa presidential candidate Phillip Chiyangwa will this evening launch his manifesto marking the official start of his campaign to land domestic football’s top post.
The launch is set to be graced by the who is who of business and the sporting industry at a top Harare hotel.
The property mogul’s campaign manager Eddie Chivero said besides unveiling his manifesto, the flamboyant businessman will also reveal his plans for Zimbabwean football.
“He’ll obviously touch on the key notes he’ll embark on once voted into office. It’s an exciting programme for Zimbabwean football really,” said Chivero, who is also the Zimbabwe National Soccer Supporters’ Association president.
Chivero said the event was strictly by invitation “as we’re aware that some malcontents from rival camps might want to come and cause chaos”.
It is believed that a number of councillors will also grace the event.
Chiyangwa will fight it out against former Dynamos and Premier Soccer League secretary-general Leslie Gwindi, South African-based businessman Trevor Carelse-Juul and former footballer James Takavada for the top post in the December 5 elections.
The election will also usher in a vice-president; a post being contested by former incumbent Omega Sibanda and former Dynamos chairman Lincoln Mutasa.
Eleven candidates are vying for the four board members’ posts, with indications that regional chairpersons from the Southern, Central and Eastern Regions as well as former referee Wilfred Mukuna will be ushered into office.
