Mike Harris Divaris Chiyangwa, son of the late businessman James “Jimmy Jimalo” Chiyangwa, who was arrested for allegedly defrauding several people, has reappeared in court facing fresh card cloning and fraud charges.
Chiyangwa appeared before Harare magistrate Ms Rumbidzai Mugwagwa, charged with unauthorised use or possession of a debit or credit card and fraud.
He has faced similar charges before, with one of his previous victims being former editor of The Sunday Mail Edmund Kudzayi.
He was denied bail and further remanded for bail consideration.
Prosecuting, Ms Linda Gadzikwa alleged that on an unknown date, Chiyangwa cloned Knowledge Marowa’s CBZ card. On December 23 last year, Marowa received numerous messages on his phone showing that money had been withdrawn from his CBZ account, all amounting to $1 980.
Chiyangwa also allegedly cloned one Witness Tsotsoma’s ATM card on December 8 last year.
He is believed to have used the card to buy a Toyota Vitz worth $5 100, prejudicing Tsotsoma of his savings. Furthermore, Chiyangwa allegedly cloned Mr Denis Magaya, the chief executive officer of Rubiem Zimbabwe Private Limited’s FBC ATM card.
Chiyangwa allegedly used the card to buy Telecel and NetOne recharge cards.
