Christian league celebrates 5 years

THERE will be a netball and football tournament at St Bernard’s Parish Church in Pumula  tomorrow to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the inter-denominational sports association.Bulawayo Christian League chairman Timothy Mandizadza said that only teams affiliated to BCL will participate in the tournament.

“Only teams that are registered with the Christian League will participate in our fifth anniversary tournament,” said Mandizadza.

Mandizadza said before the football final there will be a curtain-raiser pitting BCL Legends and former Highlanders FC players.

The tournament is sponsored by the Bulawayo Christian League, Triumphal Shipping and Customs Clearing, Mandizadza and InTrun Trading Private Limited.

Mandizadza said that all the teams should arrive at the venue an hour before their first game and the coaches to make sure that all their players are properly registered with the Bulawayo Christian League by tomorrow.

“All the team coaches should make sure their teams are at the venue an hour earlier prior to the first match and make sure that team players are properly registered with their registration licences at hand before the games start,” he said.

In the football category 12 teams namely Word of Life Entumbane, United Family International, St Andrew’s Anglican Mpopoma, St Peter’s Anglican Njube, St Columba’s Parish, Sangano Revapositori, House of Prayer Generation, Mpopoma Church of The Nazarene, FOG Stars, Famona Tigers, Family Impact, Eagle Life Assembly will be put into two groups, of which the top two teams will proceed to the semi-finals while in netball Sangano Revapositori, Salvation Army Makokoba, Mpopoma Church of the Nazarene, FOG Stars and Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe will battle it out in a round robin format.

“There’ll be a curtain raiser between BCL Legends and our special invited guests Highlanders FC Legends consisting of Douglas Mloyi, Tobias Mudyambanje, Thabani Masawi and Marko Dube being part of the team to play before the final,” he said.
